Steve has an extensive background in telecommunications and IP based network technologies –notably including IPTV. Steve has particular expertise in technology planning and implementation,with a proven track record of completing complex projects on time and on budget.
Steve recently held the position of senior technical leader for Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) development,BellSouth Telecommunications,Inc. (“BellSouth”), Science and Technology division. In this capacity, he directed a team of network engineers, scientists, project managers and technicians, all of whom were collectively responsible for BellSouth’s IPTV network design, planning, video integration, the multiple laboratory “build-outs”(including head end and attached networks) and the eventual field trial of 500 customers. Steve’s leadership responsibilities involved all technical aspects of the project including head end build-out, network integration, home networking ,security, testing, set top box functionality, applications development and Microsoft middleware solution.
In the race for “first to market”–and with fewer resources than other competitors –It is widely acknowledged that Steve’s team beat all others to a field trial with a more stable, functional and robust IPTV product. In addition,Steve designed and built the IPTV demonstration facility for BellSouth, personally having assisted in IPTV demos to, among other, the BellSouth Board of Directors and many BellSouth Officers, state and federal regulators and staffers, and potential customers. Steve left BellSouth in 2006 after a diverse and successful career, culminating with the successful trial of the new Gb Ethernet IPTV service.
Steve has held many other technical leadership positions within BellSouth including:Sr. Manager Marketing Information Systems,Sr. Manager Messaging,Sr. Manager Technology Planning and Deployment within the Consumer division as well as Finance (design and implementation of systems).
Steve has a BA from Florida International University in Miami and an MPM from George Washington University.
